OurHitchin is an independent, free, weekly guide to what's on in Hitchin, made in Hitchin, for Hitchin.
The problem it solves
Hitchin's events are scattered across the Town Hall, the Market Theatre, the Museum, Benslow, TicketSource, Visit Hitchin, Mum's Guide and a dozen village and church sites. Nobody checks them all. So people miss things that were a ten-minute walk away.
How it's made
Every Thursday morning a small program reads the town's own listings pages, politely and slowly, and picks out the events with a date, a time and a place. The same event listed on three sites becomes one line. Then we go through the week before it goes out. The clubs list is different: we write and check it by hand, entry by entry, and every entry says when it was last checked.
The rules
- Nothing is guessed. If a page doesn't give a time or a price, neither do we.
- Hitchin only. The town and its villages: Ickleford, Gosmore, St Ippolyts, Preston, Charlton, Offley, Pirton, Holwell.
- Links go to the source. You book with the venue, not with us. We take no cut and run no adverts.
- No accounts, no tracking. The only thing we hold is the email address you give us, and you can take it back in one click.
Something wrong, or missing?
Tell us and it is fixed: hello [at] ourhitchin.co.uk. A venue, a club, a wrong time, an event we haven't got. We answer every message.
Who
Made in Hitchin by people who got tired of checking six websites. Not affiliated with the council, the BID or any venue.
The photographs are ours, taken around the town. No stock pictures, and nobody else’s to ask.
